Christ Church Uniting is an open and affirming congregation: this means we have made a public covenant of welcome to persons of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions into the full life and ministry of our congregation.
CCU is committed to being an inclusive, progressive church, a place where a broad spectrum of persons, perspectives and spiritual paths are welcome to join together in a spirit of Christian fellowship and exploration. This doesn’t mean we all agree: we affirm that we are all on our own journey of coming to understand who we are, who God is and what God wants from us as a church. What it does mean is that LGBT people are welcome to worship and lead within our congregation and that their experiences, ideas and opinions will be equally respected here alongside the many diverse identities and experiences that reflect the diversity of God’s creation.
CCU is proud to march each year in the Honolulu Pride Parade and is affiliated with the More Light Presbyterians, the Covenant Network of Presbyterians, and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)’s GLAD Alliance. We are also acknowledged by the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation as an affirming community of faith.
